High Maintenance Momma
Another rough night and an agitated morning for Mom. Apparently when staff attempted to get her up and dressed, she was slapping at them and had a potty mouth - cheeky Momma! They gave her a sedative to calm her but 45 minutes later, they decided to give her another because it hadn't helped much. When we arrived at the Lodge around 11am, Mom was still in bed. Around 11:30 am, the RN and LPN for Mom's wing came by to try again...we left the room and as I listened with my ear to the door, I could hear Mom calling for Dad in somewhat of a frightened tone. Dad arrived just as we were leaving and about 15 minutes later, texted me to say she was dressed and in her Wheelie ready for lunch. The strategy is to keep Mom on her routine in hopes of getting back to a healthier rhythm. It's challenging because while the sedative calms her, it makes her docile and sleepy during the day when she needs to be getting some stimulation to tier her out at night.
